Bolden makes homecoming to metro area

Over the summer, Hinds Community College head basketball coach, Ralph Moore, made a slam dunk hire.  Moore added Jackson native, Randy Bolden, to his staff as an assistant coach.  Bolden comes to Hinds after spending the last nine seasons as the head coach at Meridian High School.  He led the Wildcats to a state title in 2011.  Bolden was very influential in the development of current Utah Jazz forward Rodney Hood.  Before his stop at Meridian High School, he served as the head coach at Pearl High School for three years.  "I am very excited about the opportunity to be a part of the Hinds family.  It feels good to be back in the Jackson area and I can't wait to coach in this league" said Bolden.  Bolden will handle the scouting and recruiting efforts for the team this season.

The Bulldogs have not made the state tournament since 2012. This season Coach Ralph Moore is looking to end that streak. The biggest addition to this year's squad just might be the arrival of assistant coach Randy Bolden. Bolden brings numerous years of experience and a coaching philosophy that instills toughness and execution.

West wins player of the week

Sophomore guard Deangelo West has been named the MACJC Player of the Week. Last week, West displayed a stellar performance on the road at Delgado Community College. West scored 38 points and shot over 50 percent from the floor to go along with six rebounds and two assists. West, a Texas State transfer, is currently leading the Bulldogs in scoring at 22 points per game, which also sits second in Region 23.

Deangelo West has been recognized by the NJCAA and named the Divison I National Player of the Week. West will take his 22 point per game average into the game tonight versus Stillman JV at 7:30 pm.

New Look Bulldogs Set for Season Opener

The Hinds Community College - Utica Bulldogs men's basketball team is looking to have a fresh start to a successful year under new Head Coach Yusef Fitzgerald. Since Fitzgerald's hiring was announced in June, the previous director of operations of Iona College in New Rochelle, New York has proceeded to revamp the program bringing in an entirely new coaching staff and many players unfamiliar to Hinds.
